2 More NoVA Restaurants where Kids Eat FREE!

Posted by Jen Ehrhardt on ,

I just happened to be out doing some shopping this afternoon when the hubster met up with me and suggested we go grab a smoothie from the newly opened Tropical Smoothie Cafe in, uh, is that Bristow or Noksville or Manassas???  Anyway, while I was sipping away on the most amazing smoothie I've ever had (MMMmmmm, I want another one right now!) I noticed that they offer "kids eat free" on Sundays. I believe that for every adult combo purchase you get a FREE kids combo (kids 12 and under only, child must be present).  I know what you're thinking...  they have food too?  Yes, they do and the menu looked amazing!  Healthy stuff at decent prices!  My hubster actually got a flatbread with peanut butter, banana, honey & granola today and he LOVED it (he talked about it all evening).

But wait, there's another...

Salsarita's (which is right near Tropical Smoothie) offers "kids eat free" on both Sunday and Monday! I don't know all of their restrictions, but I do know that you have to purchase an adult combo to get a free kids combo and I believe it's from 3-7pm each day.

From You Friday!!

So this is the "first edition" of From You Friday - a posting with ideas and tips shared by you all.  I had a few emails from you guys that weren't necessarily time sensitive, so I've been saving them up for this post.  I hope this post helps encourage you all in your fabulously frugal-ness ;)
First, I got a tip from TIB88 (sorry I don't know your name!!  If you read this feel free to leave a note and take the props that you diserve) about MyKidsEatFree.com.  This is another website that links up to lists of restaurants by area - you can search where you live, where you're going on vacation, places you're going on a day trip...  very handy!

I also got an email from my fabulously fugal friend Perri about Restaurant.com.  On this website, you search by area to see which restaurants near you offer "gift certificates" on their website.  You can purchase their gift certificates for different amounts, only that isn't the amount you pay.  For example, right now you can purchase a $25 certificate for $5 when you use the code SHRIMP (got that code from Coupon Mom).  I recently purchased 4 $50 certificates for a total of $16 - I paid $4 each!  There is one thing you must know before purchasing (I bold this because I did NOT know the first time I purchased from them) - the certificates are good toward the purchase of a meal that is total valued at double the price of your certificate (my $50 certificates are good for $50 off a meal of $100 or more).  You can read their FAQ here.

That's it for this week - if you have anything you'd like to share for next week, please feel free to shoot me an email.

Thanks again TIB88 and Perri!!!

Going Out to Eat? Check this out...

So, last night I was thinking about how I really need to put together some sort of list of restaurants where kids can eat free - or that have special deals.  And as fate would have it, today I get an email from my fabulous girlfriend Kathy with this link - a HUGE list of "kids eat free" deals!  This list breaks it down by days of the week and even lists the details of the deal.....  how totally fabulous is that?!?!  I'm SO bookmarking the website so I can check it out before we go out to eat.  The prices for kids meals seems to have been creeping up lately, so when I pay $6-7 for a kids meal and my son only eats 2 french fries I can't help but get annoyed (then my hubster feels obligated to finish the meal and complain about how he is going to get fat - yes, a fun night out to dinner for all!).  If I can go out for a decent dinner, get my kiddos dinners for free and then they only decide that they want to eat a few fries...........  I think I can live with that :)  But I will definitely NOT be telling my hubster that kids eat free at Hooters on Sundays!

*One thing I did notice is that the Mon/Tues deal for Logan's is not posted on the list.

Enjoy, and thanks again Kathy!!!
